Taking Wi-Fi into the field with solar-powered wireless links

Point-to-multipoint wireless and solar-powered network sites connecting farm hands and field workers across large properties — delivered and monitored.

The challenge

Working with the limits of the site

FPG needed Wi-Fi coverage for farm hands and field workers across large agricultural properties. There were no practical cable routes to the remote coverage points, and mains power was not available where network equipment needed to operate.

The approach

Designed around the real environment

Paxway designed and delivered a wireless path across the farms using point-to-multipoint links from a central high point. Remote network sites are powered by solar, extending coverage through the property without trenching cable or depending on grid power. The network is now under Paxway monitoring.

Current scope

What Paxway is delivering

  • Property and line-of-sight assessment
  • Point-to-multipoint wireless design and path survey
  • Solar-powered remote network sites
  • Outdoor Wi-Fi coverage for field teams
  • Resilient equipment selection for rural conditions
  • Real-time monitoring of links and solar sites
Where it stands now

The network is live and under Paxway monitoring, so link health and the solar-powered remote sites are reported in real time rather than discovered on a drive out to the paddock. This page will be expanded with site photography and measured field performance.
